How to Keep Your Home Cooler With Better Airflow

By Coolstream Heating & AirPublished Updated

The short answer

Better airflow can make one room feel as comfortable as the next. A few simple adjustments can make a big difference.

Keep the return path open

Supply vents deliver conditioned air; returns bring air back to the system. Furniture, rugs, and closed interior doors can interfere with that circulation. Keep grilles clear and avoid closing many supply vents in an attempt to force more air into one room.

Investigate persistent room differences

A warm bedroom can reflect sun exposure, insulation, duct design, or return-air limitations. A technician can measure airflow and check the duct path before recommending changes. The goal is balanced comfort, not simply a stronger blast of air from one register.
